“I love you forever Danny. You are the light of my life. You make it all make sense. You are my home. I am thankful for you everyday and for this life with you and our beautiful community. Damn, it really is what it’s all about.” - Katie, the bride

Katie and Danny are truly some of the most special, kind and beautiful humans I have had the pleasure to know through my lens. Their whole wedding felt like a synchronistic dance where nothing was ever hurried, love was abound and overflowing, everyone crying tears of joy for the two lovers joining together forever.

The eclectic, plant-filled wedding venue that is Ebell of Long Beach, was the perfect location for Katie and Danny’s artsy yet elegant wedding celebration. With the day centered around their love and community- the emotions were high and hugs were plentiful. The vividly colored decor balanced well with the neutral tones already present at Ebell of Long Beach, allowing for the welcoming and bright personalities of the couple to shine through.

During the ceremony, there was not a dry eye in the house, as Katie and Danny both spoke of inclusivity, deep devotion and acceptance towards one another, and freeing feeling to be 100% themselves within the container of the relationship. It was a truly beautiful thing to witness.

On a more technical BTS note, the vendors worked together seamlessly and this was owed heavily to the unwaveringly positive and amazing wedding planner, Katie Hall-Goodman of Best Day Ever LA Events.

Side note: Katie, the bride, is an amazing artist and photographer. I am so grateful for her trust in me, allowing me to take risks like: using multiple (7) cameras throughout the day and focusing on the use of 35mm and 120mm film. I love working for other artists and collaborating on a shared vision, what a gift. I also adore what Katie wrote in an instagram caption recapping her wedding day:

“Somewhere between spreadsheets of how many guests would be having beef (55) and emails about about napkin folds, I asked myself, why are we doing this?

And I got my answer as I sat next to my husband (!!!) looking out at 100 faces full of love. People who traveled here just for this special day, just because they believed in love - in our love. People from every stage of life, in one room, just to tell me they loved me and Danny. People who raised me. People who held on through the darkest times. People I went through puberty with and had sleepovers with and held me when I was a baby. People who built a new community with me. Who laughed with me and made movies with me and drank moonshine with me until we got sick. People who brought their talent and artistry and kindness and worked so hard to make our day unbelievable. People who’s presence and love and blessings I felt from afar. People who loved me and who I loved. More than 100 of them. Smiling back at me.

I felt 1 million emotions that day but most of all, I felt loved.

I love you forever Danny. You are the light of my life. You make it all make sense. You are my home. I am thankful for you everyday and for this life with you and our beautiful community. Damn, it really is what it’s all about.”
